About Us

Ballet Pueblo Nuevo-Reno, Nevada

Ballet Pueblo Nuevo is a non-profit association. It was founded in February 2018 with the main objective of keeping traditions, customs and cultural identity alive. Mexican folklore is much more than entertainment, it is history turned into art. A bridge between the past and the present that does not divide, on the contrary, it connects the new generations through the different regions of Mexico with their rhythms, dances, colors and sounds that express the living image of Mexico.

The idea came from Grecia Chávez, as a teenager, she began to transmit her culture through dance! The talent for dancing was instilled by his mother. Dancing since I was little made her develop the talent of folk dance. Being supported by her mother Belén Chávez with the same love for Art and our culture who since childhood has practiced this Folklor Art being part of different Folkloric ballet groups. Currently Belen Chávez is the director of Ballet Folklórico Pueblo Nuevo her obligation as director requires leading the group. Made up of more than 60 boys, girls and adolescents between 5 and 18 years old who dance with enthusiasm and pride, our organization not only helps members learn from their Mexican roots, but also exposes companionship, discipline and leadership.

Omar Chávez recently joined as an instructor with great Folklore experience, passion and dedication to teach his knowledge of the variability of dances and the different regions. Our work has been a great inspiration for young people in our group to help new members with the learning of this beautiful art. We are very proud that our passion for the art of Folklore continues to grow. It is an honor to be able to honor our Mexican culture through dance. Our goal is for more and more families to go with the intention of instilling Mexican traditions in their children. Folkloric dance has traditionally been a way of honoring Mexican culture and a representation of the struggles and joys of everyday life. Mexican folk dance has roots that go back many centuries. Although each region and state is home to different types of dance, that is why the Pueblo Nuevo Folkloric Ballet proudly represents different states of Mexico.

It’s not just dancing, but we also have to make sure we represent the best we can, making sure that our costumes are original handcrafted, use each accessory and make the best representation, it is difficult to acquire our costumes that must be attracted from Mexico. Each of the dresses of each state is different and all unique, however, they are expensive. For us, everything is worth it, we wear these wardrobes with great pride.

The Ballet has contributed to new opportunities and opens many doors for our children and has been able to help many children with their self-esteem and distract them from many negative things. We want to grow and have the opportunity to bring more people from our community to our dance group. Our work consists of dances from different regions, a bridge between the past and the present that does not divide, on the contrary, it unites and connects new generations through the different regions of Mexico with their rhythms, dances, colors and sounds that express the living image of Mexico.
